Vertically nine-striped flag, yellow-red-etc. (YRYRYRYRY). The first (hoist) stripe is itself horizontally divided into six stripes, yellow-red-etc. (YRYRYR). The third stripe bears three blue heraldical chessrooks, arranged vertically, each as high as 2/11 of the flag's height, and separated from one another by 3/22 of the flag's height.
Colours and charges from the arms. The vertical stripes are a reminder of the former jurisdiction of the kings of Aragon, the horizontal ones of that of the counts of Empúries and the chessrooks (combined with the vertical stripes) of that of the Rocabertí family, barons of Verges. Flag adopted 24th July 1998. Source for image and text: Fluvià 2001. The image in this source shows the chessrooks of the same size as the spaces between them, in proportions 1+1+1+1+1+1+1, whereas the official specifications give 2+4+3+4+3+4+2.
