The municipality of San Juan de la Nava (532 inhabitants in 2012;
6,078 ha) is located in the southeast of Ávila Province, 30 km of Ávila.
San Juan de la Nava was established as a villa on 1 April 1773 by
Charles III, separating from El Barraco.

The flag and arms of San Juan de la Nava are prescribed by a Decree adopted on 24 October 2013 by the Municipal Council, signed the same day by the Mayor, and published on 15 November 2013 in the official gazette of Castilla y León, No. 221, p. 73,517 (text).
The symbols, designed by Juan García Yuste and approved by the
Chronicler of Arms of Castilla y León, are described as follows:
Flag: Horizontal flag, purple. In the middle is placed the coat of arms, with appropriate size and proportions.
Coat of arms: The shield surmounted by the Royal Spanish crown. Made of three quarters, two symmetric and in the center of the chief. In the center of the chief, on a field azure the upper fronton of the Town Hall [photo]. Sinister, on a field argent, a jurisdictional pillory [photo] or. Dexter, on a field vert, a map of the jurisdiction of San Juan de la Nava or. Beneath the shield a scroll inscribed with the name of San Juan de la Nava.
The symbols were unveiled on 5 October 2013 during the village's
festival (Diario de Ávila, 18 September 2013 ; photos).
Purple is the colour of the flag of Ávila.
The final version of the coat of arms differs from the proposal originally adopted on 7 August 2013 by the Municipal Council, the "initial approval" having been published on 16 September 2013 in the official gazette of the Ávila Province, No. 179 (text), p. 14. The coat of arms (image) is described as follows:
Coat of arms: The shield surmounted by the Royal Spanish crown. Quarterly per saltire, with four quarters, two symmetrical, another one in the center of the chief, and yet another one in the center of the base. In the center of the chief, on a field azure the upper fronton of the Town Hall. Sinister, on a field argent, a jurisdictional pillory or. Dexter, on a field vert, a map of the jurisdiction of San Juan de la Nava or. In the center of the base, on a field azure, a banner of Castilla y León. Beneath the shield a scroll inscribed with the name of San Juan de la Nava.
