Air Djibouti is the national flag carrier of
Djibouti. Air Djibouti was set up as Compagnie
Territoriale de Transports Aériens de la Cote Française des Somalis
(Territorial Company of Air Transport of the Somali French Coast) in April 1963.
The company was established in July 1963 at the time when the country was still
a French Colony. In 1977, when the country declared its independence, the French
government shares were then redistributed. The company went bankrupt in 2002,
was dissolved and re-established operations in
May 2015 as a State-owned company but with its management initially entrusted to
the British company, Cardiff Aviation between 2015 and
2017. The owner of Cardiff Aviation was Bruce Dickinson, one time lead
singer of the pop group, Iron Maiden.
