Shield Argent semy of trefoils Vert, an eagle Gules armed Or.
Meaning:
Templin was founded around 1230 by the Margraves of Brandenburg at the crossroads between Berlin, Prenzlau, Strelitz and Frankfurt upon Oder and mentioned as a city since 1270. The arms are based on a local seal from the 14th century. For unknown reasons the trefoils had been omitted later. But as a distinguishing mark to the arms of Brandenburg they were reinstalled by the local council, based on a suggestion of the DDR State Archive. According to §2(2) of the local Hauptsatzung, version 17 December 2014, the city only has a banner but no flag.

The old flag and bannaer were introduced based on Deutsche Gemeindeordnung 1935. Both had been confirmed on 11 November 1992.
