Shield Azure, an enhanced sword Or in fess between three linden leaves Argent in chief ordered per fess and a spiral Argent in base.
Meaning:
Kirkel was established on 1 January 1974 by a merger of the municipalities of Altstadt, Kirkel-Neuhäusel and Limbach. The arms are a combination of elements from the arms of the former municipalities; the main colour and the spiral are taken from the arms of Kirkel-Neuhäusel, the sword is taken from the arms of Altstadt. The linden leaves are a new element and representing Limbach (which originally meant "Linden creek"). Furthermore each leaf is representing one of the former municipalities.

Shield Azure, a pall Or, charged with a sword Azure in pale pointing to base, and superimposing an abased fess wavy Argent.
Meaning:
Altstadt was first mentioned in 1434, when the Counts of Homburg ceded all his rights in Limbach, "in the new town and the old town". Altstadt had been the old town of Limbach, which was first mentioned in 1219. The sword is symbolising the old court of justice in the municipality. The pall is symbolising two old Roman crossroads. The fess wavy is symbolising the Blies River.

Shield parted per fess, above Argent a bar dancetty Azure, beneath Azure a spiral Argent.
Meaning:
The spiral, also called helix, Schnirkel or Schnörkel, is a canting element. It is known from court seals since the 18th century. According to Tilemann Stella (1564) this word is derived from the Latin word "circulus". The origin is unknown. The fess dancetty was added to the arms in 1950. It is taken from the arms of the Lords of Kirkel, a branch line of the Lords of Siersberg-Dillingen. Their tinctures had however been Argent and Gules.
