Stetten Coat of Arms

Shield quartered of Argent and Gules, a throughout facetted cross, or cross gyronny, in counterchanged colours.
Meaning:
The municipality adopted the arms of its namesake predecessor, which can also be found e.g. by Otto Hupp<7i> (1925), they had been in use since around 1900. The colours are those of the Counts of Hohenberg, former rulers of Stetten and the incorporated municipality of Frohnstetten. The cross originally was alluding to Reichenau Monastery, which owned great estates in Stetten. Nowadays it is interpreted as also alluding to the former monasteries of Buchau, Meßstetten, Salem und St. Gallen, which had possessions in different former communes of nowadays Stetten.
