Shield Azure on mount issuant Vert a stag passant Or.
Meaning:
The city was first mentioned in 1423. In 1451 it belonged to the Bohemian Lordship of Hohnstein, which was acquired the same year by the Electorate of Sachsen. Linen weaving had been the most important business line. The stag passant appeared on the oldest city seal from 1544, together with a circumscription "SIGILLVM CIVITATIS SEBLICENSIS". Later seals displayed a stag salient, proably alluding to the riches of deer in the surrounding forests.
