Arnstorf Coat of Arms

Shield parted per pale of Or and Sable, issuant from sinister flanch a bent arm in counterchanged tinctures with a hand Argent holding a scimitar Argent in bend sinister hilted Or.
Meaning:
Arnstorf had been a market town since 1419, granted by the Dukes of Bayern. The status was confirmed in 1510. The arm is symbolising the market and the obligation to behave peaceful during the market times (German: Marktfrieden). The tinctures are taken from the arms of the Barons of Closen, local rulers since the 13th century. In 1813 King Max Joseph I of Bayern granted completely diferent arms, displaying a white swan armed black in a red shield. The old arms were restored in 1835 by the local council, supposed to be based on the "age-old arms" from 1509. Since then the current pattern was displayed on any local seals and arms.

The arms were re-adopted in 1835 by the local council. The flag colours are traditional.
