Shield parted by a line Sable having the profile of a dyke, above Argent a sinister facing saithe salient Azure, on the dexter side of the line of partition waves Azure, beneath Vert a horsehead Argent
Meaning:
The municipality was established in 1871 as "Kortenmoor". Its core had been the namesake village which was united with Seester, a village being seat of a parish, and the settlements of Sonnendeich and Seesteraudeich. The municipality was renamed to "Kurzenmoor". In 1991 it adopted the name of the parish Seester, which existed since the 15th century. The municipality is located on the banks of the Krückau River, an affluent of the Elbe River. Dyking, symbolised by the dyke's profile as an untypical line of partition, established the possibility of agriculture not only on the moraines but also in the marshlands. The profile also represents the dangerous life behind the dykes. Dyking initialised also the breeding of horses, symbolised by the horsehead. The saith or blue fish (Latin: Pollachius virens) is symbolising fishing as important business line. The dyke profile is dividing the symbols into the area behind the dykes in green colour and outside the dykes in the colours blue and white.
