Trittau Subcounty Coat of Arms

The shield is divided per fess wavy into silver (= white) over blue. Above is a black tree having ten oversized, green leaves. Below is a wreath of twelve golden (= yellow) 5-point stars.
Meaning:
The stem is symbolising the subcounty, the leaves are symbolising its municipalities: Grande, Grönwohld, Gro?ensee, Hamfelde, Hohenfelde, Köthel, Lütjensee, Rausdorf, Trittau and Witzhave. The subcounty is congruent with the former parish and nearly congruent with the historical district (Amt) of Trittau and thus symbolising continuity. The wreath means that the subcounty is devoted to the European spirit. The blue colour is symbolising the numerous little lakes in the subcounty.

Grande Municipal Coat of Arms

Shield parted by a bend sinister wavy of Argent over Azure, above right Vert two firs Argent, beneath left Or a watermill's wheel Gules.
Meaning:
The yellow colour is representing the terminal moraine landscape. The name of the municipality is derived from the Old High German word "Grant", which means "gravel". The bend sinister wavy is representing the Bille River. It had been the border between Slavic and Germanic tribes, later between Denmark and Prussia, with a short intermezzo of French occupation by Napoleon I. Nowadays it is the border between the counties of Stormarn and Herzogtum Lauenburg. The firs are representing Sachsenwald in the South and Grander Tannen in the North, two woods, being nature protection areas. The millwheel is symbolising the Grande Mill, the oldest flour mill in Northern Germany, built in the 13th century. Please note that in the arms the wheel is issuant from base sinister but in flag it is impending and complete.

Grönwohld Municipal Coat of Arms

The silver (= white) shield is divided by a blue fess wavy. Above is a big, red, half-timbered house. Below are three green trees ordered 2:1.
Meaning:
The trees are symbolising the nature and the name of the municipality. The meaning is "green wood". The house is an image of a local wire manufactory from the 16th century, the so called Grönwohlder Drahtmühle, which is Grönwohld's landmark. The fess wavy is symbolising the millbrook.

Großensee Municipal Coat of Arms

The shield is divided per fess wavy into silver (= white) over blue. Above is a green green, rooted oak seedling with branches shaped like a cross. Below are three silver (= white) carps ordered 2:1.
Meaning:
The blue colour, the carps and the wavy line are symbolising Großensee, the lake and name giver of the municipality. The seedling is symbolising the beautiful landscape, the vital power of the inhabitants and finally their Christian charity.

Hamfelde Municipal Coat of Arms

The shield is divided by a bend sinister wavy, which is parted into gold (= yellow) over blue. Above right is a silver (= white) stag statant in a green field. Below left is a green, rooted beech in a golden (= yellow) field.
Meaning:
Since 1227 the municipality was split up, one part belonged to Lauenburg, the other to Stormarn. The Bille River, symbolised by the blue bend wavy, was the border. The stag is symbolising forestry. The beech is symbolising the groves of Hahnheide.

Hohenfelde Municipal Coat of Arms

The blue shield is divided by a silver (= white) bend sinister wavy. Above right is a wreath of twelve golden (= yellow) 5-point stars. Below left is a sheaf of the same colour.
Meaning:
The wreath of stars is symbolising the devotion to the European spirit. Hohenfelde was the first municipality in Schleswig-Holstein having partnerships with municipalities abroad and was member of the Council of Municipalities in Europe. The bend wavy is symbolising the Bille River. The sheaf is symbolising agriculture.

Köthel Municipal Coat of Arms

The silver (= white) shield is divided by a blue bend wavy. Above right is a green beech. Below left is a red Gothic chapel.
Meaning:
After 1238 Köthel was the base of the nuns' monastery of Reinbek for some twenty years. The chapel had been the rest of the monastery, after the monastery had been transferred to Hirschfeld. In the chapel services were celebrated up to the 17th century. Afterwards the chapel disappeared. The fess wavy is symbolising the Bille River, the beech is symbolising the Groves of Hahnheide.

Lütjensee Municipal Coat of Arms

The shield is divided by a silver (= white) fess wavy into blue over red. Above is a golden (= yellow) bell. On the sinister chiefpoint is an inescutcheon of the same colour bearing a blue blossom with five petals. Below are two silver (= white) wheels with eight spokes.
Meaning:
Lütjensee was first mentioned in 1248.. The bell is representing the church, which had been established by the provost of Hamburg Erich. The inescutcheon shows the family arms of Tymmo of Hamme, the former owner. Afterwards the village belonged to the chapter of Hamburg and later on to the dukes of Holstein. The wheels are alluding to the historical road between Hamburg and Lübeck. The colours are those of Schleswig-Holstein.

The shield is divided by a silver (= white) over blue fess, which has an axial depression in the middle. Above in a red field is a silver (= white) half-timbered farmhouse. The field below is plain silver (= white).
Meaning:
The farmhouse is symbolising the rural character. The depression is symbolising the geological situation of the municipality. The blue part of fess and depressing is symbolising the Corbek, a local creek.

Description of flag:
It is a white flag with narrow green stripes on top- and bottom-edge. In the middle of the white stripe is a red, baroque half-timbered house.
Meaning:
The house depicted is the dwelling house of Trittau's watermill, which had been in function from 1700 until 1973. The green stripes are symbolising the attractive landscape, especially Hahnheide forest.

Witzhave Municipal Coat of Arms

In the centre of the green shield is a silver (= white) farmhouse. On each chiefpoint is a golden (= yellow) branch of oak with three leaves and two acorns. Below is a brooch of the same colour.
Meaning:
The farmhouse is symbolising the rural character of the municipality. The branches are alluding to the nearby forest of Sachsenwald. The brooch was found in one of the numerous tumuli of Witzhave.
