Vorra Coat of Arms

Shield Argent a sabot Sable lined Gules; mantled at dexter Or a demi-eagle Sable armed and tongued Gules; at sinister Gules a cat rampant guardant Argent.
Meaning:
The demi-eagle is taken from the lesser arms of the Free Imperial City of Nürnberg, which acquired the former municipality of Alfater in 1504 and parts of the district (Bavarian: Hofmark) of Vorra. The cat is taken from the family arms of the patrician Tetzel family from Nürnberg, who acquired Vorra in 1597 and built a castle in 1602. The sabot is representing the former municipality of Artelshofen and is taken from the arms of the Holzschuher family, who owned Artelshofen Castle since 1531. In 1972 Vorra merged with Alfalter and Artelshofen.
