Strausberg Coat of Arms

Shield Azure, on a triplemount Vert issuant from base an ostrich statant reguardant proper. In central chief an impending inescutcheon Argent, charged with an eagle Gules armed Or with cloverstems of the same on his wings.
Meaning:
The Margraves of Brandenburg built a castle in 1230 and a settlement in 1247, which was called a city in 1268. The oldest seal from 1349 displayed an ostrich holding a horseshoe in his beak. At the beginning of the 15th century the horseshoe was replaced by the inescutcheon, symbolising the sovereignty of the margraves over the city. In 1945 the inescutcheon was removed as the symbol affiliated with Prussia, and thus disliked by the communists in the later GDR. The eagle was restored in 1994.

The flag was approved on 27 February 1997. The arms were approved on 26 January 1994. Although according to §3 of Hauptsatzung of Strausberg City, version 6 November 2014, no flag is mentioned, it is in use according to sources given above.
