Tegernsee Coat of Arms

Shield quartered, 1st and 4th quarter Azure three coronets Or ordered 2:1, 2nd and 3rd quarter two water-lily leaves Vert intertwined by their stems over a base wavy Azure.
Meaning:
The water lilies appeared 1st in 1395, the coronets in 1426, both in the arms of the Benedictine Tegernsee Abbey, which had been secularised in 1803. Leaves and base wavy are alluding to the location on the shores of the namesake lake, the coronets are representing the founders Adalbert and Oatkar, who lived in the 8th century and St. Quirinus, the patron saint of the abbey.

The arms were confirmed on 25 October 1886 by Minister of Interior of Bayern. The banner is in use at least since 1968.
