Bad Staffelstein Coat of Arms

On top of a stepped gable Or, consisting of 10 billets ordered 1:2:3:4, mounted on a sinister facing horse salient Argent bridled Or, a knight in clad armour Or plumed Argent, holding a shield and a lance pennant, both Argent parted by a cross Gules.
Meaning:
The stepped (German: gestaffelt) gable is considered to be at least partially canting. It appeared already on the first city seal from the middle of the 14th century. Seals since 1640 until the 18th century displayed a wyvern instead, pierced by the lance of a knight, who is without any doubt St. George. The city was ruled by the Bishopric of Bamberg and its chapter, also called Congregation of St. George. The title of a spa (German: Bad) was given in 2001.
