Description of coat of arms:
The shield is divided per fess. Above in ablue field is a golden (=yellow), double queued, statant lion armed and tongued red. Below in a silver (=white) field is a red medlar blossom barbed green and seeded golden (= yellow).
Meaning:
According to source in 1326 count Reinald III of Geldern granted city rights to the village. The ensemble is known from seals of lay judges since 1331. Both, lion and medlar, aka "rose of Geldern", are symbolizing the counts of Geldern, the former rulers.
