Shield Or, a goat-headed eagle sable with claws and tongue Gules.
Meaning:
Treysa was founded by the Counts of Ziegenhain close to their castle in 1229. The oldest seal is known from 1270, but is probably older. All seals of the city show the goat-headed eagle of the Counts of Ziegenhain, even though the city became a possession of Hesse in 1450. The colours are known since 1605.

Shield parted per fess of Argent over Gules, a goat-headed rooster passant in counterchanged colours tongued Or, in dexter chief a 6-point star Or.
Meaning:
A rooster (German: Hain derived from Hahn) and a goat (German: Ziege) are forming the beast in the arms. The arms are thus canting and appeared for the first time in a seal of 1519 and later in all seals and images. The colours changed regularly, the present arms have the mostly used colours. The star is the star of Waldeck and is derived from the arms of the first Counts of Ziegenhain, who founded the city and granted city rights in 1280. The seals until 1519 showed either the star or an image of a count.
