Wallgau Coat of Arms

Shield Gules, a crozier Or and a boat hook Or in saltire, superimposed by a scallop Argent, issuant from base a triplemount Or charged with a fess wavy Azure.
Meaning:
Mount and fess wavy are alluding to the location on the banks of the Isar River, surrounded by mountains. The scallop is an attribute of St. James the Elder, the local patron saint. One branch of the Way of St. James (Spanish:Camino de Santiago) is crossing the municipality. The crozier is taken from the arms of the Benediktbeuern Abbey, an important manorial lord before 1491, when its rights were partially ceded to the Bishopric of Freising. The boat hook is symbolising rafting, an important business line in the past. The tinctures are those of the bishopric (red and yellow) and the Counts of Werdenfels (red and white), whose county belonged to the bishopric.
