Shield Azure a salt barrel Argent charged with a 6-point star Azure, in front of a key Or in bend and a key Argent in bend sinister.
Meaning:
Since 1885 the arms consisted simply of a blue star. 1896 there is a shield parted per fess with a lion above and salt barrel, salt hook and salt shovel beneath, which was however used by the provost's salt authority alone. Otto Hupp in 1928 made an arbitrary draft displaying a barrel in a green shield. In the current arms the keys, an attribute of St.Peter, are alluding to the Berchtesgaden Provostry and the barrel to the production of salt. The star is the symbol of the Counts of Gutrath as lords of the local court of justice.
