Scherstetten Coat of Arms

Shield parted per pale; at dexter twice parted per pale of Gules, Vert and Argent; at sinister Sable a Latin cross trefly Or, issuant from base a triplemount Or charged with a bar wavy Azure.
Meaning:
The dexter half displays the colours of the city of Augsburg and is alluding to the estates owned by the Hospital of the Holy Spirit in Augsburg since 1259. Two thirds of the total area was owned by the hospital. The cross is alluding to the Imperial Abbey of St. Ulrich and Afra in Erkhausen within the boundaries of the municipality. The triplemount is representing the former castle of the Knights of Scherstetten. They had been commissionaires of the Bishopric of Augsburg. The bar wavy is representing the little Schmutter River, which has its fountain in Scherstetten.
