Shield Gules a sword Or pointing downwards, flanked by a crozier issuant Argent at dexter and an axe issuant Argent at sinister.
Meaning:
The settlement developed by forest clearance, represented in the arms by the axe. The sword is an attribute of St. Martin, the local patron saint. The crozier is referring to the Holzen Nunnery, which had been the most important manorial lord and local ruler until the 18th century.
