The name of the new community refers to the once mighty castle complex in the Blenio Valley. This has
long since fallen into ruins.
Serravalle's emblem shows a crumbling wall with a round gate opening, as can actually be seen in the ruins.
The crumbling wall is surmounted by three bars, which presumably represent the three communities that
joined together. The circular object is not clear either. Is it part of the ruins, the sun or the full
moon?
The new commune of Serravalle was formed on 1 April 2012 by the communes of Ludiano, Malvaglia and Semione
(see below).
