On 1 January 2013 the new commune of Val-de-Ruz was formed through the merger of Boudevilliers, Cernier, Chézard-Saint-Martin, Coffrane, Dombresson, Engollon, Fenin-Vilars-Saules, Fontainemelon, Fontaines, Le Pâquier, Les Geneveys-sur-Coffrane, Les Hauts-Geneveys, Montmollin, Savagnier and Villiers (see below).

that merged in 1891) we have a black grill on white (Fenin), a green fir-tree on
red (Vilars), and two white adzes (in French "doloires") with black
handles on yellow (Saules).
