Description of the flag

Unequal triband of dark blue, white and dark blue charged on the white area with a local badge. This badge is circular with a black ring framing it all around with wite lettering "Dechi Laot'i First Nations", above, and "Wekweti, NWT", below. The badge shows a landscape scene with a wolf and a caribou facing each other on a lake border field, before a spruce wood under a sky with sparse cloudlets and a large rising sun.

Wekweti (meaning "rock lake"), with a population of 135 (as of 1996), was formerly known as Snare Lake, and is located approx. at 64°N lat. and 144°W long. (the site says 64'116'N latitude and 114'116'W longitude, which is obviously mistaken!), 200 km north of Yellowknife. Local languages are Dogrib and English, and the community belongs to the electoral district of North Slave and to land claim area of Dogrib.
