Morro Agudo (lit. "Sharp Hill") developed in the Invernada Estate, owned by the Junqueira family, whose Portuguese ancestors settled in Minas Gerais in the middle of the 18th century. The settlement formed the district of São José do Morro Agudo, part of the municipality of Espírito Santo dos Batatais. The municipality of Monte Agudo was established in 1934 and inaugurated on 6 January 1935.
The symbols of Morro Agudo are prescribed in Article 3 of the Municipal Constitution, without further description, as "a flag, a coat of arms and an anthem, representative of its culture and history".
The flag and arms of Morro Agudo are prescribed by Municipal Law No. 415 of 23 April 1969.
The flag is blue, quartered by a cross made of yellow-red-yellow
stripes. In the middle of the flag is placed a yellow lozenge charged
with the municipal coat of arms.

mural crown argent. Argent an escutcheon pally or and gules surmounted
by a lion rampant or grafted in base or two lilies proper crossed per
saltire. The shield supported dexter by a plant of maize and sinister
by a plant of rice, the two proper. Below the shield a scroll gules
inscribed with the toponym 'MORRO AGUDO" in letters argent, by the
years '1860' and '1935' of the same."
