Macaubal was founded on 2 May 1924 in a forest clearing by Manoel
Camilo de Figueiredo, João de Freitas Caíres, Tomaz Teixeira de Souza
and Narciso Alves da Silveira. The village was named Coqueiros
(Coconuts), for the abundance of palm trees in the area, and
subsequently renamed Vila Progresso. The district of Macaúbas was
established by Law No. 2,838, adopted in December 1928, and renamed
Macaubal by State Law-Decree No. 14,334 of 30 November 1944.
The municipality of Macaubal was established by Law No. 233 of 24
December 1948 and inaugurated on 2 April 1949. The municipality is
named for the macaúba, the macaw palm (Acrocomia aculeata (Jacq.)
Lodd. ex Mart.).

The symbols of Macaubal are prescribed in Article 2 of the Municipal
Constitution, adopted on 4 April 1990 and last amended on 27 May 2009,
as "the flag, the coat of arms and the anthem, representative of its
culture and history".

The flag is presented on the Símbolos Municipais Brasileiros blog as quartered white-green, with the municipal coat of arms along the hoist, a green palm tree at fly and a white fleur-de-lis in each of the green quarters. I have not found any other source showing the flag.

Some photos confirm its existence, but that's about it. It's obviously quite
a few years ago:
http://www.macaubal.com/2013/03/e-ai-vai-encarar.html, 2nd photograph;
http://www.macaubal.com/2012/03/todos-os-homens-do-governador.html 2nd
photograph.
No colour, no other details, if maybe that the palm looks rather
big. But the flag was there, in the cloth. (And also in the curtain, so take
care when interpreting.)

On the occasion of its fiftieth
anniversary: A white flag with in the centre a simpler coat of arms:

No photograph of the current Macaubal flag, which one would have expected had it
existed at the time. Yet, the style of the other two photographs suggests it
existed not long afterwards. Maybe its adoption was influenced by this
anniversary?
