The flag and arms of Nova Veneza are prescribed by Municipal Law No. 269 promulgated on 22 March 1974.

Article 6.
The municipal flag of Nova Veneza, designed by heraldist Arcimoe Antonio Peixoto de Farias, shall be quartered by a cross, the blue quarters formed by four white stripes of 2 units in width charged by red stripe of 1 unit, placed two by two in the horizontal and vertical dimensions, starting from the angles of a central, white lozenge of 6 units in width and 8 units in length, inscribing the municipal coat of arms.
§1. In complicance with the tradition of Portuguese heraldry, of which Brazil inherited the norms and rules, the municipal flags have to be divided in eight, six, four or three parts, using the same colors as in the coat of arms and featuring in the center or at hoist a geometric figure inscribing the municipal coat of arms.
§2. The muncipal flag of Nova Veneza is compliant with this general rule, being quartered by a cross recalling the people's Christian spirit. The coat of arms featured on the flag represents the municipal government while the white lozenge inscribing it represents the town proper, as the seat of the municipality.
White is a symbol of peace, friendship, work, prosperity, purity and religious spirit. The white stripes charged with red stripes reprsent the municipal power spreading over all the quarters of the territory.
Red is a symbol of dedication, self-esteem, audacity, intrepidity, courage and valiance. The blue quarters represent the rural estates scattered over the municipal territory. Blue is a symbol of justice, nobleness, perseverance, zeal and loyalty.

Article 7.
In compliance with heraldic rules, the municipal flag shall have the official dimensions prescribed for the national flag, 14 units in width on 20 units in length.

Article 19.
The coat of arms of Monte Veneza, designed by heraldist Arcimoe Peixoto de Farias, is described in proper language as follows: Samnite shield surmounted by six-towered mural crown argent port and windows gules. On a field azure a medallion argent and a winged lion rampant or issuant from the chief by a ribbon vert. argent and gules. In base a watercourse argent wavy azure ensigned by a stylized bridge argent a Venetian gondola or manned by an oarsman. The shield supported dexter and sinister by tobacco and maize plants proper superimposed with cogwheels argent in base and a scroll gules inscribed in letters argent the toponym "Nova Venezia" surrounded by years "1891" and "1958".

The coat of arms shall have the following symbolic interpretation.
a) The Samnite shield used to represent the arms of Nova Veneza was the first style of shield introduced to Portugal by French influence; inherited by Brazilian heraldry, it evokes the colonizing race and main builder of the nation.
b) The mural crown surmounting the shield is the universal symbol of domain's coats of arms; argent (silver) with six towers, only four of them visible in perspective, it classifies a town of third rank or municipal seat. Gules (red) is a symbol of dedication, self-esteem, audacity, intrepidity, courage and valiance, which are the proper qualities of the community's leaders.
c) Azure (blue) is a symbol of justice, nobleness, perseverance, zeal and loyalty.
d) The medallion argent (silver) with a winged lion gules (red) hanging to the chief through a ribbon vert (green) argent (silver), and gules (red) represents a present received from the Italian homonym [Venice] after the end of the First World War. The winged lion is the charge of the arms of Venice, recalling the origins of the Brazilian town through an Italian colonization operation.
e) The watercourse argent wavy azure represents majestic river Mãe Luzia, which divides the town into two parts, surmounted by a bridge argent (silver); the Venetian gondola or (gold) completes the canting arms.
f) Argent (silver) is a symbol of peace, friendship, work, prosperity, purity and religious spirit, while or (gold) is a symbol of glory, splendor, greatness, wealth and sovereignty.
g) The outer ornaments, maize and tobacco, represent the main products of the generous and fertile soil as main sources of income, while the cogwheels represent transformation industry.
