Flag of Bugojno

The symbols of Bugojno are prescribed by Decision Odluka o grbu i zastavi Općine Bugojno (text), adopted on 17 December 2007 by the Municipal Assembly and published in the Municipal official gazette Službeni novine Općine Bugojno.

The flag (photo) is described in Article 3 of the Decision as being 30 cm x 15 cm in size, composed of three colors, with the coat of arms set in the middle, of 7.5 cm x 6 cm in size. The red and green colors are made in shape of triangles (the text of the Decisions specifies "equilateral triangle", but this is simply an error for "isosceles triangle") "symbolizing peoples living in the municipality and the outline of the geographic map of Bosnia and Herzegovina". Possibility for different sizes in the same proportions is also prescribed.

Here are a few more variants of the flags:

Coat of arms of Bugojno

The coat of arms is described in Article 2 of the Decision as being of the shield shape "with the contour equal to the contour of the [shield of the] sports clubs Iskra, Bugojno" (image). It is unusual to determine a municipal coat of arms in reference to some of its organizations of lower rank. The chief is described red with "ITALIK" inscription of the municipality name; however, the letters are not Italic as we would expect, but rather usual sans-serif like Arial. Under the chief is a white field with a green depiction of the "wood and lowlands richness" of the municipality, with three stars "as in the European Union flag", symbolizing the three nations living in the municipality. Beneath is a brigde with two arches, symbolizing the links between the peoples, above the blue stripes of river Vrbas.

The Populari database does not list any municipal symbol that would have been used prior to the 1990s or during the war period. The constitutionality of the current symbol was not disputed.
