Description

In 1930, Sil Rohu (of the Vaucluse Amateur 12 ft Sailing Club) asked Charles Sparrow to design the first VJ (Vaucluse Junior) sailing ship (for two boys under 17), with the assistance of Sargent and Banks. The Vaucluse Amateur Sailing Association (VASA) was founded in 1932. Sparrow then designed the VS (Vaucluse Senior) sailing ship (for father and son). In 1939, the Vaucluse 12 ft Sailing Club declined to adopt the VJ and VS vessels, and the VASA (Vaucluse Branch) was formed [at a new building in Watsons Bay]; the name Vaucluse Yacht Club was adopted later.

The burgee of the Vaucluse Yacht Club is white with a red cross, a red- white roundel over the middle of the cross and a red "V" in the lower left [hoist] quarter.
