The arms were granted on 13 June 1971 (Heiligenkreuz = Holy Cross). The official blazoning "On a green shield a silver cross couped" is insufficient, because it doesn't describe the cross pattée (with concave endings as a special variant). When the coat of arms is used as a standalone emblem, the shield shape is more complex than when used on the flag.
